Letter suicide of Marilyn Monroe’s mentor Lee Strasberg, D. Dwight heartfelt missives Eisenhower to his wife during the Second World War and the angry message of John Lennon by Paul McCartney are among the hundreds of historical documents that are offered in an online auction.
Douglas Elliman Madison Avenue art gallery displays 250 documents that will be sold online, the New York Daily News.
Monroe handwritten, undated letter from despair to the famous teacher’s performance is expected to go for $ 30,000 to $ 50,000 on May 30 sale.
Written by John Lennon, undated draft containing a message of hate to Linda and Paul McCartney after the Beatles broke up is expected to fetch $ 40,000 to $ 60,000.
Meanwhile, it indicates Dwight D. Eisenhower’s wife Mamie love is believed to be among the largest group of letters from Eisenhower to survive intact and could take up to $ 120,000, Joseph Maddalena, Profiles in History which is auctioning the items, he said.
Other highlights include two large leather-bound photo albums containing hundreds of images that Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini exchanged prior to World War II, have an estimated price of $ 50,000.
The sale is the second of several planned online auction of memorabilia anonymous. The collection contains 3,000 items.
